Paxton History Tour Sites
Thank you for your interest in Paxton's rich history. This page is maintained by the Paxton Chamber of Commerce. To learn more about the 24 selected historic sites around our community, you can either browse this website or preferably visit the site in person and, using the camera on your phone, scan the QR code, which will be displayed at most sites. Each QR code link will bring up a brief history of the site and several pictures. Our goal is to continue to improve this project by adding more historic sites, pictures and information.

Paxton Mustangs 1947-1990
In 1947, the Paxton High School student selected a “Mustangs” mascot. The student body arrived at this after narrowing the field of prospective names from 35 down to 5. These names included – Pirates, Panthers, Tigers and the Vikings. Now when we speak of the “Mustangs” you know it means the Paxton High School. The Jr High mascot was the Pintos and the Clara Peterson mascot was the Colts. In1 1990, Paxton consolidated with Buckley-Loda (Rockets) and later Roberts. The student body voted in the new mascot...the Panther.
